Book Review: Open Book

Jessica Simpson’s memoir, Open Book, totally lives up to the hype! You can tell this is genuinely written from the heart. She doesn’t hold anything back as she reflects on her music career, her relationships, her family, and her struggles with her weight and addictions. Her faith has played a huge part in all she has been through, and she speaks freely about it. I couldn’t help but feel connected to her after learning more about her upbringing in the church. I was already in my twenties when she became a well-known celebrity, but I remember watching her reality show and loving her quirky, laid back personality. Jessica opens up about those early years and reveals everything (and I mean everything!) Some things are hard to listen to but I appreciate her candor. I haven’t been following her journey since then so I wasn’t aware of all she has been through. It’s heartbreaking but impressive at the same time, because she overcame so much and still strives to get better by sharing her story. That takes grit. I highly recommend listening to this on audiobook. The raw emotion is evident in her voice as she tells her story. I imagine this makes it even better. 💫 PLUS If you buy the audiobook, you also get her new music that was inspired by this book. I must say it is some of her best work!
